I love this book so much! It was very interesting and different from all the other young adult contemporaries. This book is such a page turner which is why I read it all in one day. The Truth About You and Me is about Madelyn, a 16 year old, falling in love with her college professor, Bennett (Mr. Cartwright). It is told from Madelyn’s point of view in 1st person. The story is very realistic; I don’t know anyone in real life who has a relationship with their teacher, but I do know that there is someone out there who is a student and is having a relationship with his/her professor.
Madelyn is such a realistic and relatable character. She’s strong for always striving to be the “perfect daughter” for her parents, yet she’ weak because she doesn’t have the nerve to tell her parents that what they are doing is wrong. Her parents always push her in everything especially in school. Since she was a baby, her life was already planned out by her parents. I really like Bennett’s character too. For sure there is a person out there in the world who is in Bennett’s situation. How Madelyn and Bennett act and feel are just realistic and I cannot emphasize that enough. I also like their romance; it wasn’t insta-love. Honestly, I found it interesting because it was a student-teacher relationship. I was curious to see where their relationship would go, and that’s what made me keep on reading.
Overall The Truth About You and Me is an awesome and fresh read. If you’re in a reading slump and want to hop on back to your reading habits, I highly recommend you reading this. I’m almost positive that you’ll get out from your reading slump in no time. There are also life lessons in the story, especially the ending.

Only read one other review of this book and it sounded good, I don’t usually read about teacher-student relationships but it is always interesting to find out from the perspective of one of them why they would engage in the relationship and how it happened. Good to know there are also some life lessons inside the book too 🙂

I love realistic characters and a realistic book. It makes the book better for me and this is my first time hearing of this so I find the story interesting. Great review 🙂
