“For centuries, Wonderland thrived as the domain of beautiful bedlam and unapologetic madness. It was a place like no other. All it took was one girl slipping in through the cracks of the universe to start chaos spiraling toward order. In the 150 years since Alice’s visit, the realm has become tainted—almost normal. Rabbits in waistcoats and playing card minions are little more than creatures of myth, and Wonderland is literally falling to pieces.
For Gwen, Rose, and Lucky, Wonderland is home, and yet they know little of its former glory. When the Alice prophecy resurfaces, they’ll have one chance to use Wonderland’s own legends to bring a little mayhem back into their reality. For she who controls Alice controls the fate of Wonderland.”
Reaction after reading the last page: I WISH THIS WASN’T A NOVELLA! Seriously! Kellie Sheridan’s take on Alice in Wonderland is amazing! In Follow the White Rabbit, Alice is lost and it’s up to Gwen, Rose (the Red Queen), and Lucky (a prophet) to find where Alice is. I really enjoyed Kellie’s very detailed writing style. I felt like I was with the characters the whole time. I just didn’t like how the book was very short especially since this is a first book in a series. 45 pages!? Can it be 245 pages instead!? Lol. The world building is amazing, and I think there should be a bit more character development, but so far, I didn’t have major issues with the characters.
It is told in 3rd person which I liked because it gave the story a mysterious vibe which is perfect since Alice is lost. I am definitely going to read the next book (and crossing my fingers that it is LONGER). There is also a switching of scenes between Gwen, Rose and Lucky which wasn’t confusing at all! I can’t wait to find out more about the characters and Wonderland. Overall, I recommend this book. It’s a really quick read! I wish it wasn’t though.
I desperately wanted this to be longer, as well! I thought that Sheridan’s Wonderland was so very unique and awesome. I cannot wait for the sequel 😀
Ooh sounds like it really captivated you! I try not to read too many novellas in case I want more substance. Great review Leigh =)
This actually sounds really interesting! I don’t normally read novellas for that reason of them being too short and I usually want more of the story, haha. But I’m glad you enjoyed this one! I think I might have to check it out. Great review 🙂
Yes! I love Sheridan’s take on the AiW 🙂
It seems that the author is a good one. It sucks that it’s so short, though. Even 245 page books tend to lack substance for me, so I rarely read novellas. Maybe the author will write a novel later on. 🙂
I don’t normally read novellas, but this one actually sounds pretty awesome! I love Alice in Wonderland, so I might have to give this one a shot. 🙂 Great review!
I sort of love novellas because you can get a quick fix without spending the time. Nice to see you enjoyed this so much you wanted it to be longer! Great review! 🙂
