Tessa Gray should be happy – aren’t all brides happy?
Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa’s heart, will do anything to save her.”

What a satisfying, page-turner, jaw-dropper conclusion to The Infernal Devices trilogy! I am so happy I continued reading this trilogy after not being a big fan of the first book (Clockwork Angel). There are some crazy rollercoasters that happened in this book that I would have never guessed. I loved the climax and how everything turned out even though it was a bittersweet ending.

The characters and romance were spectacular! I totally ship most of the relationships in this book because they are awesome <3. Spoiler [I totally ship Gideon and Sophie. Like, when I read their scenes, I just die inside because CUTENESS OVERLOAD. Not sure how I feel about the Tessa-Jem-Will love triangle though. At first I loved it, but now Tessa can’t make up her mind lol]. I also enjoyed seeing the characters grow and it still amazes me how these characters are only teenagers! I always thought Jem & Will were like in their mid twenties because of how they spoke and acted but they’re like 17! My favorite character is Sophie though. She is so wise and thoughtful and I’m so happy how her life turned out!

Now the ending… SO DEPRESSING. Spoiler [The epilogue made me so sad since it basically said everyone dies except Magnus, Tessa, and Jem. How depressing Cassandra Clare!] It was so sad especially the epilogue but it was a fantastic end nonetheless. One thing that prevented me from giving this a 5 star is that I still get confused what a Nephilim, Shadowhunter, Downworlder, Silent Brothers blah blah are. I think that wasn’t emphasized enough or explained thoroughly. Overall if you’re hesitant to pick up The Mortal Instruments but want to see what the buzz is all about with these Shadowhunters, I suggest you pick up The Infernal Devices trilogy! The writing style is beautiful and the characters have so much depth and flaws that it’ll be hard to not fall in love with them!

I’m sooooo glad you stuck with the series until the end. CP2 is definitely the best installment if not the most emotional xD I agree, Gideon and Sophie were sooo cute. They’re calm and mature people I love it that their relationship aren’t angsty. Gabriel and Cecily are also cute. Basically there are so many ships in this series hahaha.

Yes! I’m glad it wasn’t angsty too! I love how Sophie was hard to get and yesssss they’re so mature and I think that’s why I ship them the most. Lmao this book should’ve been called SHIP SHIP SHIP

OOH, OOH THIS BOOK IS LOVE> The characters and the plot and the end omg it was so darn sad, and all the ships….where do I even start?

I really felt like the ending was the right one for the series but it doesn’t mean I love it! I’m not a big fan of the Tessa-Will-Jem love triangle (or triangles in general). But Gideon and Sophie were adorable 😀

I was a fan of the love triangle until Tessa did you know what with Will right after Jem “passed away”. I got so pissed! I’m like NOPE I AIN’T SHIPPIN YOU NO MORE WITH ANYONE TESSA. But yassss Gideon and Sophie were perfff

I know not everyone was a fan of the finale but I was! I thought it was fantastic and fast paced and bittersweet. The ending just gets to me everytime I think about it. I’ve never liked a love triangle more than I did Will/Tessa/Jem honestly. And of course the other ships were great!!! So glad you enjoyed this one! 😀

I’m so happy to hear you really enjoyed this one! I have only ever read one book by Clare, which is City of Bones. I’m not a hardcore fan, but I think her books have a lot of potential 🙂 So happy to hear the romance was truly shippable and awesome ❤ Great review!!

I feel you, this epilogue KILLED me. I’ve never sobbed so hard over a book like I did with this one. Even with its faults, I loved it. Agree that some elements could have fleshed out more though.

This is hands down one of my favorite conclusion to a series ever! I think the epilogue, while sad, was done beautifully and really managed to get me feeling emotional. Everything was tied up nicely and I loved the fact that everyone kind of got their happy ending. Lovely review! 🙂
