Falling in Love, baking a magical cake, fighting an evil necromancer—it’s all in a day’s work for Audrey Oliver, seventeen-year-old witch-in-training. When her mother goes missing and her twenty-one-year-old witchy cousin shows up out of the blue, Audrey knows something’s gone horribly, dangerously wrong. Now it’s up to her to get her own magical powers up to speed before everyone she loves is destroyed by the sorcerer intricately connected to her mother’s secret past.” – Goodreads

review
The summary basically says it! I know there’s a lot of books that has a witchcraft concept, but this is actually the first time I read something about witches and I. LOVED. IT. I had to stop my social life for a while because I got so hooked on to the book! It was like a drug to me, and I couldn’t put it  down. I actually kept it beside my bed lol.

So my first impression of this book… for some reason I had a feeling this book was going to make me laugh. Probably because the title said “guide to witchcraft” so I thought that Audrey would do silly things while she’s being trained to be  witch. It also reminded me of this Disney movie: Halloween Town High!

So I really like how I can relate to the characters and that there wasn’t any “perfect” character. This is such a fun book to read and when there were funny scenes, I actually caught myself laughing a bit. There’s full of adventure and I envy the main character because duh, she has magic powers! The story is first person with Audrey being the main character, but I love how there were dialogues everywhere. One thing that I felt a little bit disappointed to was Julian’s character (which is Audrey’s boyfwend). He was such a mysterious guy to me and there was something more to his character and his relationship with Audrey. I was hoping that I would get to know him much more towards the end of the book, and thought that he was a witch as well.

The writing was very smooth, but I feel like the ending needed to be longer. I feel like it was just getting to the super exciting/thrill stuff. It was definitely a cliff hanger for me. I was surprised and I thought THE STORY’S OVER!? Also, I wish that there were more scenes on how Audrey was being trained to be a witch. Overall it’s totally awesome and I recommend this to all of you! This book captivated me.
